Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Paramedic Instructor on the Fond du Lac Campus for a year-round 178-day contract. This position is responsible for the multiple modality delivery of instruction and facilitation of student learning and providing ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and learning strategies to meet workforce needs. In addition, will provide regular student support and contact, or refer to the appropriate department, to meet the learner's classroom and career goals.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field required, and willing to obtain a Master's Degree from an accredited program. Progress toward a Master's Degree will be measured through the successful completion of a minimum of six credits of coursework annually, beginning with the second year of employment. Applicants must have two years of paid work experience, within the past five years, related to the program being taught.

Responsibilities:

    Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College's core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe.
  • Complete required documentation and record keeping for Accrediting and Governing Agencies.
  • Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
  • Assist with student recruitment and proactively promote the College programs and services offered.
  • Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
  • Engage in internal and external College meetings and activities.
  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom.
  • Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices. Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies. Complete all required training.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience with pre-hospital emergency care.
  • Must be presently licensed or eligible for licensure by Wisconsin Department of Health Services as a Paramedic, and must hold the following:
    • Current license/certificate as Emergency Services Instructor II issued by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services-Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Section.
    • Current certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at the Paramedic level.
    • Current licensure with the State of Wisconsin at the Paramedic Level.
    • Current Basic Life Support Instructor certification with the American Heart Association.
  • Experience with the following job duties:

    • Care and Treatment of Soft Tissue Injuries, Fractures and Dislocations, Spinal Injuries, Injuries to the Head, Face, Neck, and Spine, Injuries to the Chest, Abdomen, and Genitalia and Non-Traumatic Medical Emergencies [i.e., Diabetes, Epilepsy, cardiovascular accident (CVA), Acute Abdomen, Poisoning, etc.]
    • Emergency Childbirth
    • Management of Burns and Exposure to Hazardous Materials
    • Environmental Emergencies
    • Psychological Emergencies
    • Lifting and Moving Patients
    • Patient Extrication and Immobilization Techniques
    • Ambulance and Emergency Vehicle Operation
    • Administrative Functions of EMS
    • Body Substance Isolation
    • EMS Communications
    • Basic and 12 lead EKG (electrocardiogram) interpretation
    • Administration of inhaled medications
    • Initiation, maintenance, and discontinuance of IV (intravenous) and IO (intra-osseous) lines
    • Administration of IM (intramuscular), IV, IO, PO (by mouth), and SQ (subcutaneous) medications and/or fluids as allowed by administrative rule
  • Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.

Other Position Requirements:

  • Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements, which may include criminal background check, drug test and/or verification of immunizations.
  • Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
  • This position may require travel to MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations other than the base location, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions.

Hiring Range: $62,269-$77,836 (Pending board approval)
