Park Patrol Lead

Seasonal, Hourly

Hourly Range: $17.62 - $19.79/hr

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, enforce compliance with department rules and regulations, provide informational, educational, and safety services to the public; investigate vandalism and theft, and assist in staff training. Maintain public relations with park patrons. Ensure adherence to Milwaukee County Policy & Procedures. Monitor cash reports and investigate theft. Act as liaison to law enforcement, park watch and Friends groups. Perform patrol/Safety & Security. Operate vehicles, bicycles, and other park equipment. Develop and perform staff training and orientations. Assist in the development of Parks policies and procedures. Assist in the recovery of restitution and insurance reimbursement. Equipment and building maintenance. Develop handbooks and manuals. Investigate employee injuries. Miscellaneous maintenance and special event duties to supervise seasonal park worker staff and volunteers; and to perform other duties that may be assigned.

Required Education, License/Certification and Experience

  • Valid Driver's License required and must be maintained throughout employment
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • One (1) year or more work experience in Parks & Recreation, Law enforcement, Military Police, Security or Criminal Justice required
  • Electronic surveillance equipment set-up and maintenance is preferred
  • CPR certification preferred
  • AED certification preferred
  • First Aid Certification preferred
  • Certified First Responder preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of all applicable equipment used in job scope. Knowledge of park maintenance activities. Knowledge of park safety and clean-up procedures. Knowledge of park rules and ordinances. Knowledge of chemical and safety procedures at pools. Proper communication skills & knowledge of park events. Ability to perform other tasks requested by management. Good public speaking ability; excellent computer skills; good writing skills. ability to answer questions from the public; good physical condition; ability to lift 50 pounds, safety awareness; ability to work in adverse weather and at night; ability to work harmoniously with staff, other employees and the public.
