Job/Internship Description

The Innovation and Development Division (IDD) drives the innovation strategy for the Hubs and Operations, and contributes to the Group's transformation. It is responsible for imagining, developing and incubating new solutions until they are brought to market, particularly when it comes to offers with a high technological content (including digital and IT). IDD gathers more than 3,000 employees from 70 nationalities at 60 sites.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Air Liquide Center Township Digester facility is under construction in Blairsville, PA and anticipated to start up in 4Q2024. This will be the first anaerobic-digester facility in the US for Air Liquide, transforming organic waste into renewable natural gas (RNG) at pipeline-quality. The intern for Center Township will be responsible and accountable for creating schedules for the analysis of streams onsite, formalizing standard operating procedures (SOP's) for plant production and logistics. The successful candidate will aid in developing the operating/commissioning strategy for the production, complete a key performance indicator (KPI) tracker, and meet company goals and objectives in a sustainable manner. This candidate will be critical in the startup and commissioning of the plant starting in 2024, and as such, this will prove to be a fruitful learning opportunity in plant management, plant operations, and how the energy transition is manifesting in the USA.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support plant construction and commissioning, responsible for representing the Operations Team on matters of safety, reliability, and operability

  • Verify P&ID illustrations and redline for As-Built documentation

  • Perform quality control checks for supplies, equipment, instrumentation, and incoming shipments for new and existing facilities

  • Validate systems installation in accordance with approved drawings, technical documentation, and best practices

  • Assist plant commissioning team with plant start-up, operation of the plant equipment, and systems

  • Create preventative maintenance tasks as recommended by manufacturer, including equipment calibrations and control system loop checks

  • Maintain facility materials and spare-parts inventory

  • Compare equipment across sites and utilize common spares

  • Fulfilling tasks assigned by a supervisor

  • Performing clerical duties

  • Event handling or planning

  • Job-shadowing

  • Learning technical skills related to the industry

Required Qualifications

  • Rising Junior/Senior or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or hard-science

  • Process and operational safety conscience, with constant attention to detail

  • Ready to work in construction environment, including in an onsite office and on an active construction site

  • Self-starter, with ability to work independently and in small-teams

  • Strong time-management skills

  • Clear and concise verbal/written communication skills, including reports, brief updates and presentations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Rising Junior/Senior or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Biochemical engineering

  • Prior experience working in a construction environment

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Familiarity with Google Suite

Working Conditions

  • Onsite at plant location in Blairsville, PA

  • Loud process and active construction area

  • C1D2 environment; ignitable concentrations of hazards exist under abnormal operation conditions

  • Busy loading areas with heavy equipment traffic

  • Organic waste stream (including dairy manure) sampling

This position is identified as "safety-sensitive" and is subject to random drug testing in accordance with the current Drug and Alcohol Policy and/or state law.
