Purpose Statement
The job of Paraeducator Tutor RTI is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the assessment of at-risk students' needs for Response to Intervention (RTI /RtI)) services; implementing the RtI program strategies; monitoring and reporting student behavior and performance; and providing information to appropriate school personnel.
This job reports to the Assistant Principal of Student Services.
Essential Functions
Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials in conjunction with the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and implementing 504 accommodations.
Assists students, individually or in small groups, for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing intervention strategies.
Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
Collaborates with instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents for the purpose of assisting in evaluating needs for and progress of Rtl intervention strategies.
Communicates with parents and teachers via emails, phone calls, in person meetings, etc. for the purpose of advising them of non-attendance issues, progress or providing information on needed follow-up services.
Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success in academic skills.
Maintains manual and electronic files and records for the purpose of providing written reference; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit pertaining to District 219.
Provides time-limited supervision for the purpose of providing a positive learning environment.
Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing 504 plans; and ensuring students success in school.
Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students, in support of the classroom teacher, for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of curriculum and integrating RTI intervention strategies.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.; planning and managing projects.
KNOWLEDGE is required to understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar, punctuation, and math; stages of child development and learning styles; and age appropriate activities; business telephone etiquette; methods of instruction and training; knowledge of board policy, district, state and federal regulations/laws.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience
Job related experience is required.
Education
Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.
Equivalency
College degree, teaching certificate preferred.
