What you will accomplish as an Account Executive at TAPCO:

Welcome to the exciting world of intelligent transportation systems. We welcome candidates who have technical interest and aptitude, and who have an interest in assisting municipalities and state transportation officials in navigating an innovative and high-quality solution set to meet their intersection and transportation system needs. TAPCO is looking for candidates located in one of the following states: IL, IN, WI, MI, KY - Candidates must be willing to travel.

The Account Executive will be responsible for meeting revenue and contribution margin targets by running effective and professional sales processes that help our customers find the right Signal and ITS solutions to meet their needs. This role requires technical knowledge of TAPCO's core markets as well as the ability to effectively manage the government procurement cycle to close business opportunities. Travel is required in this remote sales position, and successful candidates will be able to uncover funding and understand procurement mechanisms to assist our customers in successfully purchasing solutions to meet their needs. While prior experience in the public sector and transportation industry is preferred, we are willing to train and assist candidates in learning how to navigate public procurement in this industry.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for meeting revenue and contribution targets through strategic prospecting and effective management of customer sales processes
  • Develops and carries out an effective territory management plan to grow sales within an assigned region
  • Works with key contractors to ensure TAPCO solution set is quoted as a part of construction projects
  • Provides technical support and expertise for our customers to effectively sell Signal and ITS products including on-site assistance when needed.
  • Accountable for adherence to sales metric performance as defined by the management team
  • Strategizes within their region to create relevant marketing campaigns
  • Maintains customer data, sales opportunity data, sales funnel and any details surrounding customer relationship management within their assigned territory in the TAPCO CRM
  • Responds and follows through on inquiries and sales orders through email, over the phone or our e-commerce website
  • Travels to regional trade shows and customer sites as necessary, and reports back to management
  • Spots, monitors and shares product and territory trends
  • Provides quotes, credit terms and bids to customers and/or prospects
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or commensurate on-the-job experience
  • 3-5 years outside business-to-business sales experience within a related industry
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
  • Solid computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite; sales database
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and within a regional team
  • Experience in the transportation or networking industry, preferred.
  • Prior experience in technical sales, preferred.
  • Public sector selling, preferred.
  • Government bid prospecting and management, preferred.
