Charter Wire is hiring a Process Metallurgist II to join our growing team. In this role, you will shape the quality and efficiency of our products. Your expertise will be crucial in managing Advanced Product Quality Planning, maintaining our IATF 16949 Quality System, and providing metallurgical support. This role offers the opportunity to leverage your problem-solving skills and experience in a manufacturing environment to make a significant impact on our operations.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • You will be responsible for participating in Advanced Product Quality Planning, including the creation and maintenance of process flow diagrams, failure mode effects analysis, and control plans to ensure the successful launch of new products.
  • You will prepare and maintain Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.
  • You will facilitate/Lead corrective action teams resulting from customer complaints or internal quality problems.
  • You will participate in and lead continuous improvement projects supporting safety, quality, and productivity initiatives.
  • You will assist in developing and maintaining control of the IATF 16949 Quality System, related communication, training, and documentation.
  • You will maintain raw material specification system, including creation and updates to IRMS' and control of supplier approvals and deviations.
  • You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of heat treat procedures.
  • You will provide troubleshooting support to operations and lab for materials-related issues.
  • You will provide sales and customer contact for metallurgical support, specification review and failure analysis.
  • You will be responsible for materials selection and design as related to quotations, product development, item creation, and engineering changes.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE FROM YOU

  • Four-year degree in Materials Engineering or another related technical field.
  • Two plus years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in material selection, product specifications, and failure analysis.
  • Experience in leading Problem-Solving efforts.
  • Experience in an IATF 16949 or ISO-9000 based quality system.
  • Metallurgy and steel manufacturing knowledge, including use of metallurgical lab equipment.
  • Experience in APQP and PPAP processes.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams and resources without direct authority; including the ability to collaborate and influence others to find the optimal solution.
