The Changing World of Demographics

The Changing World of Demographics
October 9, 2018 - 8:00am PDT / 9:00am MDT / 10:00am CDT / 11:00am EDT

Employers are required to gather information on race, sex, and other classifications for various purposes.  This information may then be reported to agencies including the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).  However, collecting and reporting on this information has become more difficult in an environment when the definition of previously well-understood classifications such as “sex” and “race” are in a state of flux.

Join the LocalJobNetwork team and Bill Osterndorf, President of HR Analytical Services, as we consider the changing world of demographics.  We will examine the ways in which our traditional understanding of “sex” and “race” no longer fit the modern workplace and how employers need to adapt to this new world.  We will also discuss the ways in which revised definitions of “individual with a disability” and “protected veteran” affect certain employers.

Discussion Topics:

  • Laws requiring demographic information
  • Issues on collection of information on sex
  • Issues on collection of information on race/ethnicity
  • Issues on collection of information on disability
  • Issues on collection of information on veterans
  • Live Q&A (30 minutes)
